The Scripps Research Institute taps EMSI for NIH precision medicine research

Jessica Kim Cohen -

La Jolla, Calif.-based The Scripps Research Institute selected EMSI, a medical information service provider, to enroll participants in the National Institutes of Health's All of Us Research Program.

The All of Us Research Program, which is part of the federal Precision Medicine Initiative, aims to engage more than 1 million participants in sharing biological samples, genetic data and lifestyle information. The goal is to develop a database researchers can use to develop personalized prevention strategies and treatments for a range of conditions.

EMSI will engage participants who volunteer through the research program's online enrollment portal, many of whom are difficult to connect with. EMSI will manage home-based visits and sample collection, including training local staff, delivering supplies and shipping specimens in accordance with program protocols.

Enrollment will begin later this year.
