New Mexico health department using mobile clinic to provide care for migrants

The New Mexico Department of Health has set up a mobile clinic to provide medical care to migrants in Las Cruces, N.M., KVIA, an ABC affiliate, reports.

Health services and medicine are donated, and the state's health department pays less than $1,000 a month to keep the program going. Physicians and care providers from Las Cruces-based Memorial Medical Center are among the volunteers who operate the mobile clinic, according to the report.

The mobile clinic has up to 60 migrant patients each month, KVLA reports. Memorial Medical Center is a partner hospital of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and National Patient Safety Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization that aims to improve patient and employee safety in the healthcare industry.
