Federal plan to limit lead exposure for kids released

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, HUD and HHS have released the Trump administration's plan to reduce children's exposure to lead.

The cross-governmental collaboration will focus on four goals:

1. Reduce children's exposure to lead sources

2. Identify sources of lead exposure and improve health outcomes

3. Communicate with stakeholders more effectively

4. Support and conduct critical research to better inform lead exposure reduction efforts and related health risks

"The Federal Lead Action Plan will enhance the Trump administration’s efforts to identify and reduce lead contamination while ensuring children impacted by lead exposure are getting the support and care they need," said Andrew Wheeler, EPA acting administrator.

The plan will be implemented March 2019.
