The American College of Cardiology honored cardiologist and researcher Jeffrey Towbin, MD, with the ACC Lifetime Achievement Award at the organization’s 2025 annual meeting in Chicago.

Dr. Towbin is co-director of Memphis, Tenn.-based Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital’s Heart Institute, as well as medical director of cardiomyopathy, heart failure and heart transplant. He was heralded as a “pioneer in the field” in a March 30 news release from the ACC.

He spent 24 years at Houston-based Baylor Texas Children’s hospital, including seven as chief of pediatric cardiology. He was part of a team that established pediatric cardiomyopathy, heart failure, mechanical circulatory support and transplant programs at the hospital.

He then joined Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center as chief of pediatric cardiology and executive co-director of the hospital’s Heart Institute before stepping into his role at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in 2015, the release said.
