Boise, Idaho-based St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center had the lowest heart failure readmission ratio between July 1, 2020, and June 30, 2023, according to CMS data published Feb. 19.
As part of its hospital readmissions reduction program, CMS measures excess readmissions for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hip/knee replacement and coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
Ratios are calculated by dividing a hospital’s predicted rate of readmissions by the expected rate of readmissions, based on the average rate of hospitals with similar patient populations.
