5 systems earning cardiology grants

Here are five health systems that recently earned grants for heart research:

  1. Columbus-based Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center received a $4.3 million grant from the American Heart Association to study chronic stress on heart health.
  2. Dallas-based UT Southwestern Medical Center received $10.7 million to study how the immune system regulates the heart’s ability to regenerate and respond to injury.
  3. University of California Davis and Richmond-based Virginia Commonwealth University received part of a $15 million grant to study the effects of chronic stress on heart health.
  4. Houston-based Texas Heart Institute and the University of Texas at Austin received a $2.37 million grant to develop a method of managing ventricular arrhythmias.
  5. Cleveland-based Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center received $6.2 million to study how artificial intelligence can predict cardiovascular disease.
