UPMC breaks ground on $1.5B hospital

Pittsburgh-based UPMC broke ground on a 17-story hospital June 14, which will have 636 private patient rooms. The project is a $1.5 billion investment, a spokesperson told Becker’s.

UPMC Presbyterian will offer specialty care, including transplant, cardiology and cardiac surgery, and neurology and neurosurgery, according to a June 13 UPMC news release.

The new hospital is the largest healthcare construction project in Pennsylvania, according to the news release.
