Trident Health Care plans to construct 140-bed hospital

Alia Paavola -

Charleston, S.C.-based Trident Health Care, part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, is planning to construct a 140-bed hospital on a 21-acre plot purchased for 2.15 million by the health system last year, according to The Post and Courier.

The proposed hospital, which will be located adjacent to Trident's Moncks Corner (S.C.) Medical Center, will be three times larger than the current medical center and would include 480 parking spaces.

Trident Health Care will need approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, because the proposed hospital will be built on 0.02 acres of freshwater wetlands and take away 824 feet of a stream.

Details regarding the estimated cost of the facility or the construction timeline have yet to be released.
