Oklahoma county looks to build new critical access hospital

Tillman County, Okla., is attempting to build a critical access hospital in its region following the passage of the Oklahoma Rural Hospital Rebuild plan in the state House and Senate, ABC affiliate KSWO reported Oct. 3.

Frederick, Okla.-based Memorial Hospital closed in 2016, leaving many residents over 30 miles from the nearest full-service hospital.

Construction is expected to cost between $13 million to $15 million and is slated to begin in 2023.

Funding will be provided through six different revenue streams, including the American Rescue Plan Act and the state.
