West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas Health and the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey plan to open the state’s first freestanding cancer facility in May.
Three things to know:
1. The $750 million, 520,000-square-foot project broke ground in 2021. It is a 12-story facility that will house inpatient and outpatient cancer services, along with research laboratories.
2. The freestanding cancer facility is adjacent to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey campus in New Brunswick, N.J.
3. The cancer pavilion is designed to serve as a leading model for cancer care on the East Coast, uniting research, education and patient care under one roof.
