Baptist Health Care moves to design phase of $550M replacement hospital

Alia Paavola -

Pensacola, Fla.-based Baptist Health Care selected an architect, program manager and general contractor for its $550 million replacement hospital this week, according to The Pensacola News Journal.

The selection of the companies advanced the replacement proposal to the design stage.

Baptist Health Care selected Gresham Smith, a Tennessee-based architecture, engineering and design practice, to serve as the architect; Meadows & Ohly of Peachtree Corners of Georgia to serve as program manager; and Brasfield & Gorrie, a construction firm in Alabama, to serve as general contractor.

The new 650,000-square-foot hospital will replace its aging Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, which saw its first patient in 1951.

The new hospital is expected to open in 2023.
