Allegheny Health Network to start building microhospital after 6-month delay

Morgan Haefner -

Construction on one of Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network's new microhospitals is moving forward after a six-month pause, according to Trib Live.

AHN plans to start building the hospital, which will offer 24-hour emergency care and other medical services like lab tests, imaging services and inpatient care, in July. AHN officials first hoped to start building the hospital after the system broke ground on the project in October 2018, but lease and land agreements delayed the start.

The hospital is part of a $1 billion investment strategy to improve care access in AHN's communities. AHN is building four other microhospitals in the Pittsburgh metro area. The health network inked a joint venture agreement with The Woodlands, Texas-based Emerus to build and manage the new facilities.
