9 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. UT Southwestern plans $480M expansion at flagship hospital
Dallas-based University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center will add 300 beds to its flagship William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital in Dallas to meet growing specialty care demand.

2. Post Acute Medical to build $17M rehabilitation hospital in Texas
Enola, Pa.-based Post Acute Medical will construct a $17 million rehabilitation hospital in Round Rock, Texas.

3. South Nassau Communities Hospital completes first phase of $60M expansion
Oceanside, N.Y.-based South Nassau Communities Hospital completed the first phase of its $60 million emergency department expansion.

4. Clark Memorial Hospital breaks ground on new emergency room
Jeffersonville, Ind.-based Clark Memorial Hospital has broken ground on a $5.7 million renovation of its emergency room.

5. Brooks Memorial Hospital selects site for new $67M hospital
Dunkirk, N.Y.-based Brooks Memorial Hospital has selected a site in New York for its new $67 million hospital.

6. South Shore Hospital opens $62M ICU
South Weymouth, Mass.-based South Shore Hospital opened its $62 million intensive care unit Oct. 2.

7. CHI Franciscan, MultiCare joint venture breaks ground on $45M behavioral health hospital
CHI Franciscan Health and MultiCare Health System, both located in Tacoma, Wash., broke ground on the $45 million Tacoma (Wash.) Behavioral Health Hospital Sept. 29.

8. Putnam Hospital Center starts $9M ED expansion
Carmel Hamlet, N.Y.-based Putnam Hospital Center broke ground on a $9 million emergency department expansion.

9. Maine Medical Center wins state approval for $512M expansion
Portland-based Maine Medical Center gained approval for a $512 million expansion project.
