11 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced in the last week plans to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. United Health System gets OK for St. Catherine's Medical Center expansion
United Health System gained approval to expand its St. Catherine's Medical Center in Pleasant Prairie, Wis. 

2. Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville embarks on $23M ED expansion
To address growing emergency department service needs, Jacksonville, Fla.-based Memorial Hospital is planning a $23 million expansion to its south side facility's ED.

3. SSM Health St. Mary's announces $4.2M mental health facility expansion
Madison, Wis.-based SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital plans to renovate and expand the facility's adult behavioral health unit.

4. French Hospital Medical Center's new birthing center nears completion
French Hospital Medical Center is constructing a multimillion-dollar birthing center at its San Luis Obispo, Calif.-based campus.

5. Boston Children's expansion wins preliminary approval
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health issued preliminary approval of Boston Children's Hospital's proposed $1 billion expansion project with caveats designed to mitigate cost growth concerns.

6. Mount Sinai embarks on first phase of $500M Mount Sinai Downtown Network
New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System began the first phase of its more than $500 million project to rebuild Mount Sinai Beth Israel and create the new "Mount Sinai Downtown" network.

7. Construction underway on Olathe Medical Center cancer facility
Olathe (Kan.) Medical Center broke ground on a $25 million cancer center.

8. Brandywine Hospital in Pennsylvania unveils women's imaging center
Coatesville, Pa.-based Brandywine Hospital opened a $1 million women's imaging center.

9. St. Luke's Monroe Campus opens
Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke's University Health Network opened its seventh hospital.

10. $23M project at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center to replace ICU
Hutchinson (Kan.) Regional Medical Center finalized plans for a $23 million project to replace the hospital's intensive care unit and upgrade the facility's emergency power system.

11. University of Utah Health Care opens new health center
Salt Lake City-based University of Utah Health Care opened a new health center in DavisCounty to expand care for patients in that region.
