New York City-based NYU Langone Hospital filed a certificate of need application with the New York State Department of Health March 28 to consolidate its transplant services with nearly $22 million in renovation upgrades.

Memphis, Tenn.-based Le Bonheur Children's Hospital opened its expanded neonatal intensive care unit March 28, the first step in a $95.4 million, four-story expansion project.

Since the start of the year, at least ten hospitals have unveiled plans to invest millions into emergency department expansion efforts. The projects come as emergency department overcrowding and related capacity issues have intensified over the past few months in some regions of the country. 

Ann Arbor, Mich.-based University of Michigan Health has shared plans to purchase a former Kmart headquarters location in Troy, Mich., for $4.42 million and turn it into a clinical facility.

Eau Claire, Wis.-based OakLeaf Medical Network, the largest independent physician network in the state, is opening four clinics across Western Wisconsin to expand care following the closure of two area hospitals.  

Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Avera Health has shared plans for two building projects that total $245 million, the largest in the health system's history.

Wausau, Wis.-based Aspirus Health has shared plans for a $40 million renovation and expansion project at its Aspirus Merrill (Wis.) Hospital. 

Milwaukee-based Froedtert ThedaCare Health has broken ground on an $84 million hospital in Oshkosh, Wis.

Ridgewood, N.J.-based Valley Health System held a ribbon cutting March 22 for its new $800 million hospital in Paramus, N.J.

Los Angeles-based Adventist Health White Memorial has been cleared of all deficiencies listed in a state report  regarding the power outage that required the evacuation of more than 200 patients last August, the Los Angeles Times reported March 21.

New York City-based Montefiore Medical Center has filed a certificate of need with the New York state health department for a nearly $15 million intensive care unit gut renovation at its Henry and Lucy Moses Division campus in the city's Bronx borough.

Powell, Tenn.-based North Knoxville Medical Center, part of Knoxville, Tenn.-based Tennova Healthcare, has opened its $67.5 million four-story patient tower and emergency department to the public.

After eight years of planning, CHI Memorial has broken ground on its $126 million hospital in Ringgold, Ga., The Chattanoogan reported March 22.

Rockledge, Fla.-based Health First has broken ground on a $410 million hospital in Cape Canaveral.

Newark, Del.-based ChristianaCare is leading the way for investment in neighborhood hospitals, also known as micro-hospitals, to provide cost effective, high quality care. 

Indianapolis-based Eskenazi Health has unveiled its nearly $90 million Eskenazi Health Thomas and Arlene Grande campus in Indianapolis. 

North Adams (Mass.) Regional Hospital is anticipating a reopening by the end of March after being closed for a decade. 

Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth has selected a location for its new $254 million community hospital in North Carolina, though the system is still awaiting the resolution of an appeal filed by Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health.

New York City-based NYU Langone Health has received a $15 million gift from Wayne Holman, MD, and his wife, Wendy Holman to further the treatment and research of endocrine disorders in the Holman Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.

The estimated project investment for Indianapolis-based Indiana University Health's new hospital and expanded medical campus is $4.3 billion.
