Under Armour data breach affects 150M MyFitnessPal users

An unauthorized party gained access to the usernames, scrambled passwords and email addresses of nearly 150 million users of Under Armour's health and fitness tracking app — MyFitnessPal — in February, according to Reuters.

Social Security numbers, driver license numbers and payment card information were not compromised.

The company started notifying affected MyFitnessPal users Thursday, just four days after it learned of the incident. Under Armour is working with data security firms and law enforcement to investigate the incident, and it did not offer details of how hackers accessed its network or obtained the data, according to Reuters.

A notice on Under Armour's website advises MyFitnessPal users to immediately change their passwords.

"We continue to monitor for suspicious activity and to coordinate with law enforcement authorities," the company said. It is also ramping up its systems that detect and prevent unauthorized access to user information.

Shares of the athletic apparel company fell 3 percent in after-hours trading, according to Reuters.
