Spotify is hiring employees to assist its foray into physical products, fueling speculation the music streaming website may unveil a smart speaker, MusicAlly reports.
Here are four things to know about the announcement.
1. Spotify is seeking an operations manager for hardware product, according to the music website's recruitment page.
"Spotify is on its way to creating its first physical products and setting up an operational organisation for manufacturing, supply chain, sales & marketing," the ad reads.
2. According to the role description, the operations manager will "define and manage Distribution, Supply, Logistics, fulfillment and Customer Service for Hardware Products and work with partners to deliver the optimal Spotify experience to millions of users" for Stockholm-based Spotify.
3. Spotify is also seeking a senior project manager for hardware production and a project manager for hardware production and engineering.
4. The job listings may indicate Spotify's move into hardware, MusicAlly reports. Some are speculating Spotify may roll out a smart speaker that would compete with Apple products and voice assistants like Amazon's Alexa.
