Sears lays off 200 employees at corporate offices

In June, Sears laid off roughly 200 corporate employees, with nearly 150 of  them coming from Sears' support center in Hoffman Estates, Ill., according to CNBC.

This is the second round of corporate job cuts for Sears, which eliminated 220 jobs at its corporate offices earlier this year.

"Today, we made the very difficult decision to eliminate a number of positions across various business units and roles," Sears CEO Eddie Lampert wrote in a memo to employees June 26, according to CNBC. "While these changes didn't impact a large percentage of our workforce, your leadership team and I want you to know that these decisions were not taken lightly or easily."

In May, Sears announced it would close 100 unprofitable stores as sales continued to drop for the retailer.
