February marks third consecutive month of retail sales drop

Domestic retail sales dropped for the third consecutive month in February, according to CNBC.

U.S. households cut back on purchasing cars and other large items in recent months, and retail sales fell 0.1 percent in February after also falling 0.1 percent in January.  Retail sales had not declined for three months in a row since April 2012.

Though auto sales fell 0.9 percent in February, sales at clothing stores rose 0.4 percent while online retail sales grew by 1 percent.
