Michigan’s Beaumont Hospitals Continues to Cut Jobs, Reorganize

Beaumont Hospitals system in Michigan has cut approximately 60 managerial and administrative positions since the fall, and will also eliminate an unspecified number of staff employees, according to a Detroit News report.

In the fall, the three-hospital system announced plans to lay off 40-50 managers. The reorganization effort has extended into the winter and surpassed the original number of layoffs expected. In November, the system began notifying staff-level employees that their positions would be eliminated as part of the redesign.

Beaumont officials declined to say which staff positions or departments will be affected since some employees have yet to receive notice. A total number of layoffs cannot be confirmed since the hospital is trying to place employees in other positions. The hospital is generally able to relocate up to 75 percent of those affected by job cuts to other positions.

Beaumont has three hospitals in the following Michigan locations: Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak and Troy.
