Rush cardiologist joins advisory board of AI precision medicine startup

Andrea Park -

Kousik Krishnan, MD, a cardiologist at Chicago-based Rush University Medical Center, has joined the medical advisory board for Ninety One, which uses artificial intelligence and data analytics to power a comprehensive remote monitoring platform.

In this new role, Dr. Krishnan will advise Ninety One's efforts to build software that helps healthcare providers predict disease progression in cardiac patients and use that data to develop personalized treatment plans to improve outcomes.

"Ninety One has built a team and system that leverages the power of modern computing. It will advance the field of [cardiac implantable electronic device] monitoring by utilizing artificial intelligence to aggregate data in a way that will be intuitive for CIED clinics and reduce the burden of these checks on healthcare providers," Dr. Krishnan said in a March 16 news release about his appointment.

He continued, "Beyond this, there is a tremendous amount of data in these CIEDs that have the power to predict disease episodes and disease progression. I am honored to join this team to help utilize advanced computational principles to improve patients' quality of life, improve mortality and reduce the CIED clinic burden on healthcare providers."
