Primary Partners saves nearly $4M in first year

Through its Cigna Collaborative Accountable Care Model, central Florida's ACO, Primary Partners, has exceeded market expectations in both quality and cost savings.

Primary Partners, one of the country's first Medicare Shared Savings Program ACOs, earned the highest quality scores in Florida in 2014. It was ranked fourth in the nation for overall quality that same year.

In addition, Primary Partners saved almost $4 million, which is nearly 10 percent lower than other ACOs in the market.

Primary Partners, which includes 32 independent primary care physicians, attributes its success to investment in data analysis and collaboration with Bloomfield, Conn.-based Cigna, through which it works to improve services for patients who are at higher risk of readmission.
