Mount Sinai CIN, Cigna form accountable care partnership

New York-based Mount Sinai Health Partners and Cigna are teaming up to offer Cigna beneficiaries better access to more coordinated care at a lower cost through a collaborative care agreement.

The partnership is part of Cigna's Collaborative Care program, which is a value-based model similar to an accountable care organization. Under the agreement, Mount Sinai and Cigna aim to root out gaps in care, reinforce preventive care and primary care physician visits and improve follow-up care.

Mount Sinai Health Partners is the clinically integrated network associated with Mount Sinai Health System. It includes the Icahn School of Medicine in New York City, the system's hospitals and other affiliated physicians.

"We are excited to provide high-quality care for Cigna customers through our clinically integrated network," Niyum Gandhi, chief population health officer for the Mount Sinai Health System, said in a statement. "Mount Sinai Health Partners' clinically integrated network is a collaboration among our primary care physicians and specialists to continuously improve the quality and effectiveness of healthcare services. By partnering with like-minded payers such as Cigna, Mount Sinai Health Partners is able to drive better population health, disease management and preventative care for our patients."
