Rome, Ga.-based Floyd Medical Center is expected to launch a Medicare Shared Savings Program accountable care organization, according to the Rome News-Tribune.

"We're just now getting to the point where we're ready to apply and do one of these," Greg Polley, vice president for payer contracts at FMC told the Rome News-Tribune. "This will be a way for us to learn how to begin to manage care within new payment arrangements that are coming."

FMC cares for more than 9,000 Medicare patients who will be served by the ACO, according to Mr. Polley.

The ACO of FMC board of directors will include Kurt Stuenkel, president and CEO of FMC; Joseph Biuso, MD, CMO of FMC; Joe Vaughn, MD; and Frank Don Diego, MD, according to the Rome News-Tribune.
