Bethesda, Md.-based Aledade's Kansas ACO — Aledade Kansas — and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas partnered to offer value-based contracts to ACO members beginning Jan. 1, reports Kansas City Business Journal

BCBS of Kansas' extension to Aledade Kansas members will assist rural physicians, as the ACO serves practices in rural parts of the state.

"Moving into the value-based role is really a direction most, if not all providers are going to have to take," said Erin Patrick, ACO executive director for Aledade Kansas. "Over the past nine months, we've worked diligently under a variety of initiatives. We've really laid that groundwork, and now it's time to start building a house."

Aledade Kansas is looking to add three practices to its more than 200-practice model next year.
