Bethesda, Md.-based Aledade announced Tuesday it applied to CMS to launch accountable care organizations next year in seven states, including Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

Aledade is a startup launched by Farzad Mostashari, MD, former National Coordinator for health IT at HHS, that provides independent physicians with the regulatory expertise, administrative and technological services, and in-person support to set up and operate an ACO.

These additions will expand Aledade's portfolio to more than 100 physician practices, 80,000 Medicare beneficiaries and 11 states, though Aledade expects to add partner practices to the new ACOs through September.

Aledade applied to launch ACOs in the following states with the following partner locations.
