Medicare Advantage enrollment to reach all-time high

Morgan Haefner -

In 2019, 36.7 percent of Medicare beneficiaries are projected to be enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan, according to recent data released by CMS.

With 22.6 million beneficiaries expected to choose an MA plan, enrollment will be at an all-time high next year, CMS said. MA enrollment is set to increase 11.5 percent to 22.6 million, 2.4 million more beneficiaries than the 20.2 million recorded in 2018.

Competition among Medicare Advantage plans will remain high. Nationally, the number of Medicare Advantage plans will increase from roughly 3,100 this year to 3,700 next year. More than 91 percent of Medicare beneficiaries will have access to at least 10 Medicare Advantage plans in 2019, compared to 86 percent in 2018.
