Kaiser Permanente San Jose (Calif.) Medical Center. Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center employs several green-thinking strategies, such as the installation of 10 electric vehicle charging stations on campus. The health system installed a bank of fuel cells to generate electricity for several San Jose Medical Center buildings, reducing reliance on the power grid and lowering energy costs. The hospital also recycles 18 tons of blue plastic wrap annually. These initiatives were recognized by Practice Greenhealth with the 2017 Greenhealth Emerald Award.
