University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers (Ann Arbor). U-M Hospitals and Health Centers has become an industry leader in various green initiatives, including energy conservation, green purchasing, recycling and waste management, and green building. UMHHC recently pledged to meet LEED Silver certification standards for all new construction projects with a budget of $10 million or more. Already, the C.S. Mott Children's and Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital received LEED Silver level certification. UMHHC optimizes its energy performance through numerous energy retrofit projects, efficient operation and maintenance and efficient computing systems. The organization's sustainability efforts are overseen by an Environmental Stewardship Steering Committee and various subcommittees.
