Metro Health Hospital (Wyoming, Mich.). As a leader in sustainable healthcare, Metro Health's list of green initiatives is long, including a hospitalwide carpooling program, waste reduction program and mercury elimination program. Metro Health Hospital is LEED certified and features a 48,500-square-foot green roof and a landscape that incorporates native and adaptive vegetation to reduce chemical inputs and irrigation requirements. The hospital uses environmentally friendly cleaning supplies and cafeteria ware. In 2015, Practice Greenhealth recognized Metro Health Hospital with a Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award for the second consecutive year, and with three Circles of Excellence awards in waste reduction, chemical reduction and environmentally preferable purchasing.
