Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston).Massachusetts General Hospital's orthopedics department offers the full spectrum of musculoskeletal care, and its physicians see 80,000 patients annually. The 999-bed MGH is the site of numerous advancements in orthopedic care, such as the development of a metal cup for use in partial hip replacements. According to the most recent data available, MGH has a 2.96 percent revision rate for primary total knee replacements, and a 3.64 percent revision rate for primary total hip replacements, well below the national averages of 8.2 percent and 17.5 percent, respectively. U.S. News & World Report ranked Massachusetts General No. 7 in the nation for adult orthopedics in 2017-18 and Blue Cross Blue Shield Association designated the hospital a Blue Distinction Center for knee and hip replacement.
