University of Pennsylvania-Penn Presbyterian Medical Center | 100 Great Hospitals in America 2017

University of Pennsylvania-Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (Philadelphia). Penn Presbyterian is part of Penn Medicine — a health system with more than two centuries of history. The beginnings of Penn Medicine date back to 1751, when the nation's first hospital — Pennsylvania Hospital — was founded. It is also home to the nation's first medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. Today, Penn Presbyterian continues to boast many firsts in medicine. For example, it is home to one of the nation's first coronary care units. For 2016-17, U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital No. 1 in the state and among the top 20 in the nation.
