Windber Medical Center Restructures Workforce, Lays Off 19

Windber (Pa.) Medical Center has laid off 19 employees, according to a report by The Tribune-Democrat.

The hospital is also leaving 11 positions vacant. Most of the affected employees are in middle management, and the layoffs should not impact direct patient care, according to the report.

Windber Medical Center is reorganizing its workforce in order to prepare for the future of healthcare, according to The Tribune-Democrat. The layoffs are not linked to lower patient volumes. "We just looked at the entire organization and where we can be stronger and better position ourselves for the changes we see coming up," Barbara Cliff, WMC's president and CEO, said in the report.

Although some employees are losing their jobs because of the workforce reorganization, the efforts will create four new positions at WMC, according to the report.
