Strike planned at ACMH Hospital

More than 100 licensed nurse practitioners and technicians at ACMH Hospital in Kittanning, Pa., will strike Tuesday, according to a TribLive report.

Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses & Allied Professionals represents 123 LPNs and techs at the hospital. They are going on a one-day strike over bad faith bargaining and unfair labor practices, according to the report.

ACMH will staff the hospital during the strike with workers from a temporary staffing agency who will be there for three days.

In a statement to the Leader Times, a hospital official said it was "unfortunate" that the union decided to strike, and said ACMH Hospital plans to continue to meet and bargain with the union in good faith. Three days of negotiations are set for April, according to the report.

The hospital and the union have butted heads in the past, with the union holding an informational picket earlier this month. The union is looking for cost-of-living increases and adding one tech to each shift. It also wants staff to be able to do its own scheduling.

ACMH maintains that staffing is adequate at the hospital.
