Lawrence + Memorial Hospital Lockout Ends

Though no contract agreement has been reached, New London, Conn.-based Lawrence + Memorial Hospital welcomed union member employees back to work Thursday after a three-week lockout, according to a report by The Day.

About 800 nurses and technicians at the hospital, members of AFT Connecticut, went on a four-day strike starting Nov. 27. They had been locked out since the strike ended.

The lockout ended without a contract agreement, even after multiple negotiation sessions. The union's negotiating team rejected the most-recent contract offer from the hospital, according to the report.

L+M had been using replacement workers to fill in during the lockout. Replacements were paid $64 to $100 per hour, and the hospital paid for hotel and travel expenses, according to the report.
