Kadlec nurses vote for possible strike: 3 things to know

Richland, Wash.-based Kadlec Regional Medical Center nurses, represented by the Washington State Nurses Association, voted Monday in favor of a possible future strike, according to a Tri-City Herald report.

Here are three things to know about the vote.

1. The advisory vote on a potential strike received 90 percent approval.

2. The nurses' vote does not mean they plan to go on strike right now. Rather, the vote was an indication of how the nurses are currently feeling, according to officials.

3. The votes comes about a month after Kadlec nurses rallied Nov. 9 amid contract talks with hospital management. The nurses' contract expired Nov. 30, and negotiations for a new pact are ongoing. Sticking points of negotiations include staffing levels, sick leave and paid time off.
