Indiana Regional Medical Center nurses plan picket

Indiana (Pa.) Regional Medical Center nurses remain at odds with hospital management over contract issues approximately two weeks after they authorized a potential strike, according to a TribLIVE report.

The nurses, represented by the Indiana Registered Nurses Association, contend that the hospital and union have reached minor agreements, but there are still issues to be worked out on staffing levels.

Mark Richards, the hospital's vice president of marketing and public relations, told TribLIVE the union will not agree to paying its share of rising costs for health benefits, but the parties have tentatively reached an agreement on all other "substantive or major" non-economic issues.

Nurses plan to picket May 27, but continue to work under the terms of the expired contract.
