Healthcare among top industries hiring entry-level workers

Healthcare is among industries doing the most hiring, accounting for 11 percent of the entry-level positions on offer, according to data released by recruitment technology company SmartRecruiters.

That's only behind technology, which accounted for 21 percent of the entry-level positions on offer. Behind healthcare was: communications (9 percent), retail (7 percent), food and beverage (7 percent), recreation (6 percent), other (5 percent), consulting (5 percent), manufacturing (4 percent) and nonprofit (4 percent).

SmartRecruiters determined these findings using data from 700 hiring companies, 1 million job listings and more than 100,000 hires. The data reveals which entry-level positions are available in the greatest numbers and in which industries, as well as how quickly college graduates can expect to be hired for them. In addition, SmartRecruiters identified the job boards companies are using most to post entry-level positions in each state.

In 25 states, Craigslist is where the highest percentage of entry-level positions are posted.

According to the data, there is a 50 percent increase in hire rate among those candidates who use a personalized cover letter or message compared to those who don't.
