CVS looks to bring 500 jobs to Central Florida: 4 things to know

Woonsocket, R.I.-based CVS Pharmacy wants to create up to 500 new full-time jobs under its Caremark division in Central Florida, according to a Orlando Business Journal report.

Here are four things to know about the pharmacy's plans.

1. Caremark, a prescription management division of CVS Pharmacy, is seeking state approval to expand its business operations and create the jobs by 2017, according to the report.

2. Caremark expects to create 275 of the new jobs by December 2016 and another 225 jobs in 2017.

3. The average annual salary for the new jobs will be at least $48,995, and will support the existing 10 specialty pharmacy locations in Orange County, according to the Orlando Business Journal, which cites information from county documents.

4. The state Department of Economic Opportunity still needs to sign off on the pharmacy's incentive package to create the jobs. That decision is expected to come in about two weeks, according to Orange County spokeswoman Doreen Overstreet.
