Cincinnati hospital to add 50 new jobs with maternity ward project

West Chester (Ohio) Hospital plans to open a $10 million maternity ward next year, adding 50 new obstetric nurse and obstetrician positions, according to Cincinnati Business Courier.

The hospital is renovating the third floor of the patient care tower to make way for the 26,000 square-foot maternity ward. The new department is about two-thirds complete and on schedule to open next May, according to the report.

"We expect to deliver approximately 500 babies in the first year, but are building to accommodate significant growth since we don't know what to expect [in year two] and beyond," Deb Titlebaum, spokesperson for the hospital, told the Courier.

When finished, the ward will include eight delivery suites, two Caesarean-section operating rooms, triage rooms and nurseries, according to the report.

West Chester Hospital, affiliated with Cincinnati-based UC Health, is located about 30 minutes outside Cincinnati. Just five years old, West Chester Hospital is the newest hospital in the Cincinnati area and has 186 inpatient beds.
