Berkshire Medical Center Hires Former North Adams Regional Employees

After North Adams, Mass.-based Northern Berkshire Healthcare abruptly ended operations at North Adams Regional Hospital, its home health facility and three physician practices March 28, about 530 employees were out of work. Now, 143 of them have jobs again.

Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass., has hired the former North Adams Regional Hospital employees, possibly to help open a satellite emergency room, according to a Boston Globe report. Ninety-six of the newly hired employees will have permanent jobs, while 47 will have 90-day positions, according to the report.

The new Berkshire Medical Center employees include physicians and support staff.
