46% Healthcare Workers Likely to Job Hunt This Year

Staff -

Nearly half — 46 percent — of healthcare workers are likely to look for a new job in the next 12 months, an increase of 15 percent from quarter 3, according to the most recent Randstad Healthcare Employee Confidence Index.

Even though 56 percent of healthcare workers believe fewer jobs are available from Q3 2013, the report found 61 percent feel confident that they would be able to find a new position — just a slight dip from 62 percent last quarter.

"Workers remain fairly optimistic about their own employment prospects and rightfully so," Steve McMahan, president of Randstad Healthcare, said in a news release. He said he expects to see continued demand for registered nurses, pharmacists, primary care physicians and nurse practitioners this year.

Data is based on an online study among 148 healthcare employees, including physicians, administrators and other professionals.
