A. Driving Value in Precision Medicine with Health IT
-- Jonathan Hirsch, Founder and President, Syapse

Improvements in health IT have led to advances in genomics. Emerging methods for managing and analyzing large data sets have empowered providers and researchers to more accurately predict which treatment and prevention strategies for a particular disease will work in which groups of people. This session will discuss:

  • Opportunities gained by adopting precision medicine;
  • Early research demonstrating improved patient outcomes and cost of care reduction from precision medicine;
  • And examples of the adoption of precision medicine IT solutions by health systems such as Intermountain, Providence and more.

B. Leveraging Predictive Analytics Throughout the Entire Revenue Cycle
-- Steve Levin, Chief Executive Officer, Connance

From the front-end to the back-office, healthcare organizations need to maximize recoveries and find a way to actually improve relationships with patients. According to Connance’s 6th Consumer Impact Study, hospital business offices can have a significant impact on patients’ overall hospital satisfaction, their payment behavior and their recommendation patterns. Due to higher-deductible plans, business offices are increasingly interacting with patients after discharge, and with the challenge of dealing with outside agencies, healthcare organizations suffer from a lack of visibility into the revenue cycle process. According to a September 2016 Connance survey of senior healthcare finance executives, one of their top priorities is increasing collection rate among insured patients with balance after insurance responsibility. The need to focus business office teams on the best opportunities, to reduce low and no-value efforts, and yet maintain a positive patient relationship has never been more important.

In this session you will learn how your organization can apply best practices to your collections process, such as identifying which accounts will yield the most and which accounts will yield less than the cost to collect, and the activities to most appropriately resolve an account. Results from Conance’s 2016 Consumer Impact Study will be revealed. Learn strategies that will help impact net income by increasing cash collected, improving the patient experience, and reducing your cost to collect.
