Parkridge West Hospital provides stroke care via telemedicine

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Parkridge West Hospital has rolled out a telemedicine program for 24/7 stroke care, according to Chattanoogan.com.

The program connects Parkridge West Hospital physicians to board-certified neurologists via two-way videoconferencing. The remote neurologists can evaluate stroke patients using telemedicine technology and view imaging documents through the hospital's communication system.

"Such access enables us to promptly determine the best treatment plan, deliver treatment or coordinate rapid transfer to a comprehensive certified stroke center," Thomas Scoggins, MD, medical director of emergency medicine services at Parkridge West Hospital, told Chattanoogan.com.
