3 telehealth clinics open in Indiana schools

In an effort to increase healthcare access to children in rural areas, three new telehealth clinics are opening in schools in southern Indiana, according to WBAA.

The new clinics are opening in schools in Crothersville, Austin and Southwestern Jefferson County.

The clinics will train nurses to conduct video conferences with physicians. The clinics will address basic acute symptoms. However, the clinic in Austin will have an extra clinic students can visit if they experience more intense symptoms.

Indiana's first telehealth clinic opened last year in Elwood. The Indiana Rural Health Association hopes to open telehealth clinics in five additional school systems soon.
