Philips Healthcare Temporarily Suspends CT Manufacturing

Andover, Mass.-based Philips Healthcare has temporarily stopped manufacturing CT scanners and molecular imaging equipment at its facility in Cleveland, according to a DOTmed report.

Mario Fante, senior manager of public relations at Philips, said in the report that the decision to suspend manufacturing was voluntary, and there is no current indication of safety issues with the equipment.

Loretta Loncoske, clinical analyst at Dallas-based MD Buyline said in the report some Philips customers are still starting to search for other options, and the situation might cause a setback in Philips' sales.

Mr. Fante said Philips expects to resume shipping some products from the Cleveland facility in Q2 2014.
