Pfizer makes 2nd price hike this year for nearly 100 drugs: 4 things to know

Pfizer on June 1 increased the U.S. list prices for nearly 100 drugs in its second price hike of the year, reports Financial Times.

Here are four things to know.

  1. The drug company boosted the price of 91 drugs by 5 percent to 13 percent, according to the report.

  1. Affected medications include the best-selling erectile dysfunction drug, Viagra, and the popular nerve pain treatment, Lyrica.

  1. At the start of 2017, the average wholesale price for a 100 milligram Viagra tablet was $57.94. The drug now costs $73.85, representing a 27.5 percent increase, reports Financial Times.

  1. Pfizer also raised prices for numerous drugs in January, bringing the average price increase per drug to 20 percent for 2017.
