Petya attack could cost Maersk $300M

Maersk Line, a Danish shipping conglomerate, may have lost up to $300 million in revenue following a global cyberattack, reports ZDNet.

Maersk was a target of the "Petya" cyberattack, which originated in Ukraine and infected computer systems in more than 60 countries June 27. The company estimated its third quarter earnings would reflect between $200 million and $300 million in lost revenue, but that its overall profit will remain unchanged, the company told ZDNet.

Maersk added it has "put in place different and further protective measures and is continuing to review its systems to defend against attacks" in response to the malware.

Ukrainian police arrested a 51-year-old man allegedly associated with the Petya attack last week.
