Medline launches innovation challenge, seeks medtech submissions

Mundelein, Ill.-based Medline has launched its 2014 Medline Innovation Challenge, which aims to find and reward organizations for developing licensable medical devices and healthcare solution technology.

Such medtech inventions and innovations that the company seeks include surgical solutions, infection prevention and patient care.

"At Medline, we believe the key to innovation is collaboration," said Francesca Olivier, corporate sustainability and innovation manager at Medline, in a news release. "This contest will allow us to build an innovation engine that will advance healthcare through a wide range of solutions, from incremental improvements to game-changing concepts."

Challenge finalists will be invited to Medline's corporate headquarters where they will network with medical device experts and company executives while also competing for $17,500 in cash prizes.

Entries must be submitted on behalf of an office of technology transfer that is affiliated with a university, healthcare provider or research institution. Submissions for the 2014 Medline Innovation Challenge are due Oct. 20. To learn more and to submit ideas, click here.
