Lannett earns FDA approval for allergy drug: 3 things to know

 The Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday approved Lannett Co.'s generic allergy treatment.

Here are three things to know.

1. Levocetirizine dihydrochloride is an oral treatment used to relieve symptoms associated with perennial allergic rhinitis in children two years and under.

2. The drug can also be used to treat hives caused by an allergic reaction in adults and children six months and older.

3. Levocetirizine dihydrochloride is the therapeutic equivalent of Sanofi's allergy drug Xyzal.
